Puget Sound Tribal Capacity - Swinomish Tribe 2015-20
00J99101
This project supports work to understand and disseminate information on Climate Impacts on Puget Sound resources within the Skagit Basin by supporting the Skagit Climate Consortium. Funding will be used to ensure 1) the new nonprofit is managed and meets requirements, 2) regular meetings of scientists to improve and expand scientific collaboration and integration, 3) information is taken to stakeholders and the public, and 4) the long-term funding for the nonprofit. It also funds a new Shellfish Adaptation Program which will support the Puget Sound Action Agenda Shellfish Strategic Initiative. This program entitled: Adaptation Strategy for Climate Change Impacts on Shellfisheries (ASCCIS) will develop an adaptation strategy to direct Tribal efforts in protecting and restoring tribally-important shellfish in the face of climate change and ocean acidification across the Tribe’s U&A treaty fishing area.
