Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe has provided a leadership role in its collaborative partnerships to understand, protect and restore freshwater and marine ecosystem functions in the Dungeness and Sequim Bay watersheds. The Tribe will address some of its pressing environmental issues by: 1) Playing an integral role in the functioning of local and regional forums dedicated to Puget Sound resource management and recovery, 2) Providing technical assistance in the work to restore the Dungeness floodplain by setting back the lower Dungeness Army Corps of Engineers dike. The Tribe will partner with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to conduct a “new-start feasibility study”, to identify ecosystem restoration opportunities, 3) Providing natural resources community outreach and education for adults, students and shoreline stakeholders by collaborating with the Dungeness River Audubon Center to work with community residents and students to foster an understanding of the watershed and Puget Sound.
