Makah Tribe: Noncompetitive Tribal Projects for Restoration and Protection of Puget Sound
TRI_0195
The primary objective for this funding is to prevent toxic chemicals from abandoned and derelict vessels (ADV) at the Makah Marina from entering Puget Sound. As long as ADV have oil or other hazardous materials onboard, ADV pose spill risks if they sink or endure damage. These spills can then degrade water quality and habitat, endangering natural and cultural resources. An ADV spill in the Makah Marina would threaten nearby tribal shellfish harvesting areas.
