The Habitat Strategic Initiative Lead (HSIL) is an interagency program, co-led by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and Department of Natural Resources, to advance habitat protection and restoration in Puget Sound under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The HSIL leverages strategic planning, partnerships, and Puget Sound Geographic Program funding investments for protecting and restoring a healthy Puget Sound habitat. HSIL capacity operationalizes and implements the Habitat Implementation Strategies through convening and collaborating with partners from the Puget Sound Recovery community. The HSIL manages pass-through subawards to advance Habitat Implementation Strategy and Puget Sound Action Agenda outcomes. The HSIL elevates and connects the work of subrecipients within the recovery community to build programmatic approaches to habitat restoration and protection.
